Gizem Memiç (born May 16, 1990) is a Turkish beauty pageant titleholder who won the title of Miss Turkey 2010 on Thursday 1 April 2010. As “Miss Turkey” she was in a 2011 American television commercial for Carl’s Jr. restaurant and its sibling Hardee’s restaurants, promoting their new broiled turkey sandwiches, where they claim is under 500 calories. Gizem is seen in a bikini, eating the sandwich as she strolls down a walkway.

Several Hardee’s ad campaigns in the 2000s have been criticized by groups such as Parents Television Council for their sexually suggestive nature. Recent campaigns targeted include “More Than a Piece of Meat” featuring scantily clad women appearing to receive sexual gratification from consuming Hardee’s products, and “Name Our Holes” — an ad campaign and website promoting Hardee’s Biscuit Holes.

Padma Parvati Lakshmi (born September 1, 1970) is an Indian American cookbook author, actress, and former model who has described herself as the first well-known model from India. She has been the host of the reality television program Top Chef since season two. Lakshmi was brought up as a vegetarian and has admitted that because of this, she sometimes becomes “squeamish” when sampling other cultural delicacies.
