Padma Parvati Lakshmi (born September 1, 1970) is an Indian American cookbook author, actress, and former model who has described herself as the first well-known model from India. She has been the host of the reality television program Top Chef since season two. Lakshmi was brought up as a vegetarian and has admitted that because of this, she sometimes becomes “squeamish” when sampling other cultural delicacies. However, in 2009, she starred in a commercial for the Carl’s Jr. restaurant chain eating a Western Bacon Cheeseburger and credits the chain from bringing her away from vegetarianism.

Hardee’s is a restaurant chain, located mostly in the Midwest United States and Southeast regions. It has evolved through several corporate ownerships since being established in 1960. It is currently owned and operated by CKE Restaurants. Along with its sibling restaurant chain Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s is the #4 U.S. fast-food restaurant burger chain after McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s.

The Baconator sandwich is a hamburger sold by the international fast-food restaurant chain Wendy’s. It is one of their late-teen–to–young-adult, male-oriented products. [It] consists of two 4oz. beef patties, two slices of American cheese, six strips of bacon, mayonnaise, and ketchup on a premium bun.

Bacon may be eaten fried, baked, or grilled, or used as a minor ingredient to flavor dishes.

Roy Rogers (born Leonard Franklin Slye) (November 5, 1911 – July 6, 1998), was a singer and cowboy actor, as well as the founder of the the famous Roy Rogers Restaurants chain. He and his third wife Dale Evans, his golden palomino Trigger, and his German Shepherd Dog, Bullet, were featured in over one hundred movies and The Roy Rogers Show.

In December 2008, Burger King purchased the rights to an advertising campaign that centered around a taste-test marketing campaign, dubbed “Whopper Virgins.” The test claimed to target participants who were unaware of the existence of Burger King or McDonald’s, and had never eaten a hamburger. Three remote areas of the world—Baan Khun Chang Kiean, Thailand; Kulusuk, Greenland; and Budesti, Romania—were targeted. In the test, the “virgins” were asked to try both the McDonald’s Big Mac and the Burger King Whopper, and give their preference, if any. According to the advertisements and accompanying mini-documentary, the Whopper was the most popular sandwich among the test subjects.

Burger Chef was an American fast-food restaurant chain founded in 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The chain expanded throughout the United States, and at its peak, it was second only to McDonald’s in the number of locations nationwide. The chain featured several signature items such as the Big Shef and Super Shef burgers [and] later on, they pioneered the “Works Bar”, where customers could dress their burgers with condiments and vegetables exactly as they wanted.

It has been said that the name “mozzarella“, which is clearly derived from southern Italian dialects, was the diminutive form of mozza (cut), or mozzare (to cut off) derived from the method of working. Rex David “Dave” Thomas (July 2, 1932 – January 8, 2002) was an American businessman and philanthropist. Thomas was the founder and chief executive officer of Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, a fast-food restaurant chain specializing in hamburgers. He is also known for appearing in more than 800 commercial advertisements for the chain from 1989 to 2002–more than any other person in television history.

Pepper jack cheese is a derivative of Monterey Jack that combines spicy hot peppers for a zesty flavor. Spicy, delicate and buttery, pepper jack cheese is semi-soft and open textured with a slightly tart flavor.

A dilemma (Greek δί-λημμα “double proposition”) is a problem offering two solutions or possibilities, of which neither is acceptable. The two options are often described as the horns of a dilemma, neither of which is comfortable.

In May 2006, in promotion of the Texas Double Whopper, Burger King released a campaign called the “Manthem” which parodies Helen Reddy’s I Am Woman. The McDLT (McDonald’s Lettuce and Tomato) was a hamburger product based on a novel form of packaging. Both were then packaged into a specially designed two-sided container. The consumer was then expected to finalize preparation of the sandwich by combining the hot and cool sides just prior to eating.

Pepé Le Pew is an Academy Award-winning fictional character in the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons. A French anthropomorphic skunk that always strolls around in Paris in the springtime, when everyone’s thoughts are of love, Pepé is constantly seeking “l’amour” of his own. However, he has two huge turnoffs to any prospective mates: his malodorous scent and the fact that he comes on too aggressively or with too much passion, both of which he is cheerfully oblivious of.

The Big Mac is a type of cheeseburger, a signature sandwich sold by the McDonald’s chain of fast-food restaurants since 1968, made with beef patties, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onion, with a “special sauce” and a sesame seed bun. Judaism does not have a specific doctrine about the afterlife, but it does have a tradition of describing Gehenna. Gehenna is not hell, but rather a sort of Purgatory where one is judged based on his or her life’s deeds. The Kabbalah describes it as a “waiting room” (commonly translated as an “entry way”) for all souls (not just the wicked). In May of 2007, CKE Restaurants, Inc. filed a lawsuit against Jack in the Box, Inc. over two TV ads, The lawsuit claims the ads create a misleading impression that Jack In The Box’s new 100 percent sirloin hamburgers use a better quality of meat than the Angus beef used by Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s. The lawsuit claims the TV spots confuse consumers by comparing sirloin, a cut of meat found on all cattle, with Angus, which is a breed of cattle.

In response to the backlash against McDonald’s, the firm has sought to include some healthy choices in its menu and has introduced a new slogan to its recruitment posters: “Not bad for a McJob”. (The word McJob, first attested in the mid-1980s and later popularized by Canadian novelist Douglas Coupland in his book Generation X, has become a buzz word for low paid, unskilled work with few prospects or benefits and little security). McDonald’s disputes the idea that its restaurant jobs have no prospects, noting that its CEO, Jim Skinner, started working at the company as a regular restaurant employee, and that 20 of its top 50 managers began work as regular crew members.

Super Bowl XL was the 40th Super Bowl, the championship game of the National Football League (NFL). The game was played on February 5, 2006 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, following the 2005 regular season.

Busby Berkeley (November 29, 1895 – March 14, 1976), born William Berkeley Enos in Los Angeles, California, was a highly influential Hollywood movie director and musical choreographer. Berkeley was famous for his elaborate musical production numbers that often involved complex geometric patterns. Berkeley’s quintessential works used legions of showgirls and props as fantastic elements in kaleidoscopic on-screen performances.

Jason Alexander (born September 23, 1959) is a television, cinema and musical theatre actor, best known for his role as George Costanza on the hit television series Seinfeld.

George Louis Costanza is a fictional character on the United States-based television sitcom Seinfeld (1989–1998), played by Jason Alexander. He has variously been described as a “short, stocky, slow-witted, bald man” (by Elaine Benes), “Lord of the Idiots” (by Costanza himself), and as “the greatest sitcom character of all time”.

The Great Root Bear is the popular mascot for A&W Root Beer, an American soft drink. It was first used in 1974 by Canada’s A&W, and was later adopted by the American chain.

Root beer is a beverage that comes in two forms, alcoholic and as a soft drink. The alcoholic version is made from a combination of vanilla, cherry tree bark, licorice root, sarsaparilla root, artificial sassafras root bark flavoring (the pure form is mildly carcinogenic), nutmeg, anise, and molasses among other ingredients. After successful early growth of the [Wendy's] chain, sales flattened as the company struggled to achieve brand differentiation in the highly competitive fast-food market. This situation would turn around in the mid-1980s. Starting on January 9, 1984, elderly actress Clara Peller was featured in the successful “Where’s the Beef?” North American commercial campaign for Wendy’s. Her famous line quickly entered the American pop culture (it was even used by Walter Mondale in a debate with Gary Hart in the Democratic primary election) and served to promote Wendy’s hamburgers. Peller, age 84, was dropped from the campaign in 1985 because she performed in a commercial for Prego spaghetti sauce, saying she “finally found” the beef. Peller was soon after replaced by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas himself.

The McDLT (McDonald’s Lettuce and Tomato) was a hamburger product based on a novel form of packaging. The meat portion was prepared separately from the other toppings, such as lettuce and tomato, and then both were packaged into a specially designed two-sided container. The consumer was then expected to finalize preparation of the sandwich by combining the hot and cool sides just prior to eating. The company discontinued the sandwich in 1990 due to the move away from the environmentally unsound styrofoam packaging which was integral to the McDLT “experience”.
