It won several major advertising awards in 1998, notably a Cannes Gold Lion and a Silver Pencil from D&AD in London. It has been voted one of the 100 best commercials of all time and was popular for its latent jingoism and the fact that it appears to have been filmed in one continuous shot.

It allowed the 701 series to be both compact (when closed) and comfortable to use (when open), despite being just 24.6 cm (9.7 in) wide with a 26.4 cm (10.4 in) VGA LCD. The 701 was the top selling laptop of 1995, however, as later laptop models featured progressively larger screens, the need for a folding keyboard was eliminated. Consequently, no model but the 701 used the butterfly keyboard.

Tango is a carbonated soft drink sold primarily in the United Kingdom and Ireland, first launched by Corona in 1950. The first “ironic” campaign introduced the now-common catchphrase “You know when you’ve been Tango’d”, produced by advertising agency HHCL. The campaign began in 1991 with an ad featuring a man being slapped around the face by a portly man painted orange (Peter Geeves) immediately after drinking Tango. It received widespread condemnation after a craze for “Tangoing” people swept the nation’s playgrounds, and there were reports of children receiving serious injuries or even being deafened by being slapped on the ears.

HHCL (formally Howell Henry Chaldecott Lury and Partners) was a London based advertising agency prominent in the 1990s. HHCL’s most celebrated piece of work was a commercial for Tango in 1991 (co-written by Trevor Robinson OBE). The ad took soft drinks advertising away from US lifestyle and planted it firmly on the streets of Britain. When a young man drinks some Tango, a large orange man runs up to him and slaps him on the face – the ‘hit of real oranges’ – while two astounded commentators report on the action. The commercial was voted the third best commercial of all time by Channel 4 in the UK. After children began copying the orange man’s slap, the commercial was banned and reshot with the orange man planting a kiss on the Tango drinker.

A lawsuit filed in 1998 by Joseph Shields and Thomas Rinks alleged Taco Bell failed to pay them for use of the Chihuahua character they created. The men alleged that Taco Bell had breached payment on a contract after they worked with the restaurant chain for a year to develop the talking Chihuahua for use in marketing. The talking Chihuahua became a hit with the first advertisement, in which the character bypasses a female Chihuahua for a Taco Bell taco and declares: “Yo quiero Taco Bell.”

In commercials, the dog was made to speak through special effects. His advertising catch-phrase was “¡Yo quiero Taco Bell!”. There were thought to have been two equally valid translations for this Spanish phrase: “I want Taco Bell!” and “I love Taco Bell!” However, in the commercials, the subtitle “I want some Taco Bell” and did not acknowledge the dual meaning of this phrase because for it to have meant “I love Taco Bell” the phrase in spanish would have to have been “Yo quiero a Taco Bell” and the original phrase missed the preposition.

Essentially the first mainstream light beer, Miller Lite has a colorful history. After its first inception as “Gablinger’s Diet Beer,” which was created by the Rheingold Brewery in New York in 1967, the recipe was literally given by the inventor of the light beer process to one of Miller’s competing breweries, Chicago’s Meister Brau, which came out with the Meister Brau “Lite” brand in the early 70′s. When Miller acquired Meister Brau the recipe was reformulated and relaunched as “Miller Lite” in 1975, and heavily marketed using masculine pro sports players and other macho figures of the day in an effort to sell to the key beer-drinking male demographic. Miller’s approach worked where the two previous light beers had failed, and Miller’s early production totals of 12.8 million barrels quickly increased to 24.2 million barrels by 1977 as Miller rose to 2nd place in the American brewing marketplace. Other brewers responded, especially Anheuser-Busch with its heavily advertised Bud Light in 1982, which eventually overtook Lite in 1994. In 1992 light beer became the biggest domestic beer in America.

The Twist was a rock and roll dance popular in the early 1960s named after the song that originated it, The Twist. It was the first major international rock and roll dance style in which the couples did not have to touch each other while dancing. It was arguably the product of a logical progression of popular hip-swiveling activities, from swing dances such as the Lindy, to the famous pelvic moves of Elvis Presley and other 1950s rock-and-roll stars, and even the late-1950s toy fad, the Hula Hoop.

Its six different sections have no chorus but both a cappella and heavy metal arrangements. Despite this, it was released as a single and became a huge commercial success, marking a decisive point in Queen’s career and setting them on the way to become one of the world’s most popular bands. It failed to catch on and is seen as one of the most expensive flops of all time.

They commissioned Executive Chef Andrew Selvaggio to create the Deluxe line of burgers including the Fish Filet Deluxe, Grilled Chicken Deluxe, Crispy Chicken Deluxe and the flagship Arch Deluxe.
